What is Belief in Almighty Allāh
Al-Īmān Billāh (Belief in Allāh) is the firm belief in the existence of God Almighty and His oneness in His Lordship, Divinity, Names and Attributes. It is the first principle of faith and it includes heartfelt belief, verbal confession and action with the limbs, which gives the believer peace of mind and dignity, leads him to perform acts of obedience, makes him contemplate God’s signs in the universe and in himself, and responds to His commands and prohibitions.
Components of Faith in God
- Belief in His Existence: Believing that there is God and He is the Creator & Controller of everything.
- Belief in His Lordship: Acknowledging that He is the Owner, the Creator, the Provider, and the Controller.
- Belief in His Divinity: Acknowledging that He alone is worthy of worship and has no partner (Oneness of God).
- Belief in His Names & Attributes: Believing in His beautiful names and sublime attributes as mentioned in the Holy Qurʾān and Sunnah, while declaring him free from the similarity of creatures and their similarity, discruption or adaptation.
Effects of Faith in Allāh
The effects of having belief in Almighty Allah are as follow:
- Tranquility & Peace of Mind: It helps the believers to have a feeling of serenity/calmness and the knowledge that God takes care of His servant.
- Pride & Dignity: It helps the believers to have a feeling of self-sufficiency and independence from all others besides God.
- Motivation For Good Deeds: Love of God motivates the believers to perform acts of obedience.
- A Good Life: It helps them to attain guidance, victory and contentment in this world & the hereafter.
