What is Guslul Janābah
Guslul Janābah is a full-body ritual bath in Islām performed to cleanse oneself after certain activities to achieve ritual purity after a state of major impurity.
Causes Of Janābah
The couses of janābah are:
- Sexual Intercourse: Intercourse, regardless of whether ejaculation occurs or not, makes both partners enter the state of janābah.
- Wet Dream: Ejaculation during a wet dream is a cause of janābah.
- Discharge of Semen: This is one of the main causes of janābah. It does not matter if the discharge is voluntary or involuntary, during sleep or while awake, or even if it is just a small discharge.
- Oral Sex: Ejaculation during oral sex also requires janābah.
- Masturbation: Masturbating with hand, sex toys or any other thing for sexual pleasure requires janābah
What are not causes of janābah:
Here are some things that are not causes of janābah
- Kiss: Kissing one's spouse without a sexual intent or discharge of semen does not require janābah.
- Madhiy: Emitting pre-seminal fluid without lust or excitement requires Ablution not janābah .
- Hug: Hugging or touching one's spouse without a discharge of semen does not require janābah.
How to Perform Janābah
These are basic steps on how to perform janābah:
- Intention(An Niyyah): Make the intention of performing janābah.
- Wash Hands: Wash your hands up from finger to the wrist.
- Wash Private Parts: Wash and clean your private part.
- Perform Wuḍūʾ: Perform the ritual ablution (Al Wuḍūʾ) 1x.
- Water Over Body: Make sure water circulate to all part of the body by:
- Washing the head 3x
- Washing the right side of the body 3x
- Washing the left side of the body 3x
- Washing the front side of the body 3x
- Rub Body: Rub your body and ensure water reaches all parts of the body.
- Al Wuḍūʾ (Ablution): Complete your Gusl with ablution (Al Wuḍūʾ).
