Prayer for the deceased in Islām
It is permissible and encouraged for Muslims to continuously pray for the deceased after their death to ask for forgiveness and mercy.
As it was narrated on the authority of Abū Hurayrah (PBUH) said: The prophet (SAW) said: "Idhā māta ibnu ādam inqaṭaʿa ʿamaluhu illā min thalāth: ṣadaqatin jāriyah, aw ʿilmin yuntafaʿu bih, aw waladin ṣāliḥ yadʿū lahu"
On the authority of Abū Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three things: A continuous charity, knowledge by which people derive benefit, pious son who prays for him".
