- Payment of Dowry (Mahr): The groom is obligated to provide a mandatory gift, known as "Mahr" to the bride, this gift should be proportionate to the husband's financial means and it is the bride's right.
- Absence of Impediments: There should be no legal or religious barriers preventing the marriage, Examples include being related by blood or milk.
